Demand Planning Leader - Role Overview
The Demand Planning Leader is responsible for end-to-end demand forecasting while also leading the demand planning process across the organization. This role combines hands-on forecasting with cross-functional leadership to ensure accurate demand plans that support service, inventory, and financial objectives. The role is responsible for developing, leading, and continuously improving demand forecasting processes to support effective supply chain planning.
Key Responsibilities
Demand Planning (Hands-on)
- Develop, maintain, and improve demand forecasts at SKU, product, customer, and channel levels
- Apply statistical forecasting models and incorporate market intelligence, promotions, seasonality, and NPI inputs
- Analyze historical sales trends, forecast error, and bias; implement corrective actions
- Maintain demand planning systems and ensure data accuracy
- Support supply planning, production, and inventory decisions with reliable demand signals
Leadership & Process Ownership
- Lead the demand planning function, including forecasting, consensus demand planning, and demand review processes
- Own and drive the monthly demand planning and S&OP / IBP demand review process
- Lead cross-functional alignment with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain
- Translate commercial plans into an agreed consensus forecast
- Identify demand risks and opportunities and recommend mitigation or upside actions
- Establish and improve demand planning standards, governance, and best practices across the demand planning teams
- Act as the key point of contact for demand planning across the organization
Reporting & Performance Management
- Track and report forecast accuracy, bias, and key demand KPIs
- Prepare management dashboards and executive-level demand insights
- Support financial forecasting and budget alignment
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
- 5–10+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain roles
- Strong hands-on forecasting experience combined with stakeholder leadership
- Solid understanding of S&OP / IBP processes
- Experience with demand planning tools (SAP IBP/APO, Excel)
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills
- Ability to work independently while influencing without direct authority
