The person hired for the position of senior research engineer, Corporate Research Laboratory-Asia will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Lead the development of a fundamental understanding of the mechanical behavior of 3M materials and products.

• Perform mechanical testing and analysis for soft materials, polymers and adhesives.

• Develop novel test methods for polymers and adhesives.

• Provide guidance for development of novel materials that meet mechanical requirements of applications.

• Interface with customers to define problems and develop solutions.

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of application engineers, scientists, and process engineers to enable next-generation products via Multiphysics/Finite Element Analysis modeling and simulation

• Support simulation engagements with customers

• Understand, develop, and guide the establishment of digital twins, new digital workflows, tools, and systems.

• Initiate and contribute to the analysis and development of intellectual property

Qualification

• Ph.D. degree or Masters degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Chemistry

• min. 3 years of experience

• Experience in deformable body mechanics

• Fundamental understanding of soft matter physics and mechanical behavior and polymer synthesis/structure

• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to excel in cross-functional environments

• Must be highly motivated, self-starting and a creative problem solver

• Experience with python or another programming language

• Experience with Finite Element Analysis modeling and simulation

• Success in working on global teams, close collaboration with customers and capability to both lead and be a member of high-performance teams.
