2024 Discovery Manufacturing Operations Rotational Program

ABB’s Electrification organization is responsible for the go-to-market strategy and generating profitable growth for the Electrification Business Area. Our 10,000 strong commercial team represents the portfolio of all Electrification Business Area Divisions in over 100 countries. The role reports to the Director-Early Talents, University Relations & Employee Branding. Two-year rotational program Each participant will complete three, separate manufacturing operations rotations (6 month, 6 month and 12 month) Potential rotational responsibilities could include: Design and execution of large manufacturing operations Design and update manufacturing lines Strategic problem solving and root-cause analysis Implement lean manufacturing methods and procedures Maintain and improve product flow Support team to set-up production line layout and tools and fixtures Support Kaizen event preparation, participation and/or follow-up, including documentation, waste observation, assist in the designing and assembly of material racks or carts, assist with the layout and assembly of tool carts, floor taping, etc. Create and maintain Bill of Materials Support critical compliance initiatives at each site, including implementation of audits, controls and improvements Support continuous improvement activities Attend July orientation to collaborate with other Discovery Program participants Participate in global programming designed for early talent training, personal and professional growth, networking, and social activities Dedicated program manager to coach you throughout your journey

Your responsibilities

  • Learn about themselves and ABB’s dynamic global business
  • Engage with ABB leaders including rotation managers and mentors who will help them develop their technical and leadership skills
  • Aspire to achieve their career goals at ABB by participating in professional development opportunities including, but not limited to certificates, webinars and immersions
  • Become familiar with power tools, including band saw, drills, circular saw, table saw, grinders and chop saw. Training will be provided
  • Deliver on business results by completing challenging and meaningful assignments in a supportive environment.

Your background

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelors Degree engineering program (Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred) graduating between December 2023 and June 2024
  • Preferred relevant past internships or co-ops
  • Exposure to Lean Six Sigma concepts
  • Experience with project management
  • Advanced Excel user
  • Ability to read manufacturing documents and specs
  • Excited to explore living/working in different parts of the US, relocating for each rotation is possible. Relocation assistance is provided
  • Desire to learn and grow from a diverse set of experiences and people
  • A growth mindset focused on continual learning and improvement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
