As a Supplier Quality Engineer for Process Automation Business Area in Shanghai, China, you will be responsible for performing supply quality issue resolution including supplier claims preparation. Identify and carry out development of supplier capabilities and performance in order to implement Category strategy and mitigate risks.
Your responsibilities
- Driving the supplier qualification/re-qualification process and ensure the supply base is and remain fully qualified and compliant. Supporting supplier onboarding (buyer responsible)
- Scheduling, monitoring and approving supplier part, material and project subcontractor service activities, as applicable.
- Leading and fast executing upcoming supply issues like quality issues, late deliveries, non-conforming products or project services
- Ensuring by Lean6Sigma and risk-based methodologies, identifying needed improvements of supplier base capabilities and performance to ensure conformance with Customer and ABB requirements and the implementation of category strategy both on short and long term
- Developing and supporting targeted suppliers to achieve ongoing conformity with Customer and ABB requirements and continuous improvement in quality, e.g. reduction of variation and cost or increase of sustainability, service/delivery performance
- Defining & developing with local unit counterparts (Sourcing, Quality,
- Operations, R&D / Technology) local quality procedures &
- practices. Ensuring that defined systems and practices are in line
- with existing Group/Division/BU instructions and procedures
- Completing special quality/quality management projects, as required
Your background
- Working experience or a degree in mechanical/industrial/electrical engineering/Industrial Engineering
- Min. 5 years of experience in several of the following areas: Developing and maintaining Quality management system in an industrial environment, Continuous Improvement, Lean Six Sigma, Process Design, Lean Production, Manufacturing & Quality, Change Management, Audit, Statistical Analysis
- Experience in leading quality operation on process and product sides
- Experience in coordinating quality assurance and quality control activities to achieve quality business targets
- Experience using 8D/Problem solving methodologies and sound knowledge of MS Office tools and ERP systems (SAP) are an asset
- High customer and solution orientation, paired with a communicative personality and coaching skills
- Fluency in English
