Join us as R&D Electrical-Electronic technician for ABB Smart Power and you’ll get to work with cutting-edge power electronics products and technologies- enabling safer and smarter electricity flow from substation to the point of consumption. We deliver products and systems designed to connect, protect, and control electrical systems, ensuring reliability, efficiency and safety for equipment and personnel. Reporting to R&D Centre of Excellence Leader and you will be part of a laboratory organization supporting the product designers applying power electronics building blocks in the design of Power Electronics Products, with high quality and reliability, meeting international standards, delighting our customers with innovation and performance. This position is based out of Napier, New Zealand

Your responsibilities

• Defining product test requirements
• Finding alternate parts and defining qualification plans
• Reliability engineering including FMEA
• Being responsible for International standards for product safety (CE & UL)
• Prototyping of hardware test rigs and Automation of testing, with PLCs or NI LabView
• Strong problem solving and debugging skills

Your background

• Industrial electrician, or other electrical qualification or degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering with 5 years of experience in the relevant field
• Previous exposure and experience with 3phase systems is an added advantage
• Experience of any of the following products- UPS, Energy storage systems, variable speed drives is plus
• Good Communication skill
