Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for a Power Electronics Architect or Senior R&D Engineer at ABB Oy, Drive Products division. Drive Products is continuously investing in the variable-frequency drive development and thus strengthening its design organization. Look no further – we have an interesting opportunity for you! Selected person will work in the power electronics design group and will be located in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki, Finland. Members of the design group are responsible for the main circuit and the power electronics design in various product development projects. You have either a possibility to act as an architect to develop future power electronics solutions and to coordinate design solutions across the projects or as a senior design engineer contributing to the own design area in the project. Role is adjustable according to your profile and earlier experience. We offer you a challenging and inspiring position in an international working environment. The work model for the role is: #LI-hybrid You will be mainly accountable for: • Feasibility studies of technical solutions for the future technology and platform development • Dimensioning and designing the main circuit and power electronics of frequency converters • Specifying and overseeing testing and validation of components and products, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and specifications. • Creation and maintenance of documentation, including specifications, drawings, test plans, and reports, for own responsibility area • Co-operation with subcontractors

Qualifications for the role

  • PhD / M.Sc / B.Sc in power electronics or related field and several working years of relevant experience
  • As an architect a wide understanding of the power electronics and the adjacencies (PCBA, Thermal, EMC, Reliability, Control)
  • As a senior R&D engineer a deep understanding of the power electronics, power supplies, gatedrivers and PCBA design process.
  • Experience in the simulation and the knowledge of the circuit simulation software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English. Finnish is seen as an advantage
