Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development for specific product-related issues and maintenance. You will also showcase your expertise by identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative solutions. The work model for the role is: Hybrid #Li This role is contributing to the PA Measurement & Analytics team You will be mainly accountable for: In this role, you will be technically responsible for Research and Product Development (R&D) activities and operations support within the Process Automation Business Area, Measurement & Analytics division, Business Line Instrumentation. You will be collaborating with other global product development teams in the division on mechanical design for developing technology and products in accordance with division strategies. You will be mainly accountable for: • Contributing to the product development in Business Line Instrumentation, from early concept phase to design, validation and release to the manufacturing units. • Working in R&D multidisciplinary projects and collaborating with cross functional teams on all mechanical design aspects of instrumentation devices, including material selection and product manufacturability. In your area, you will be responsible for functionality, performance, cost and quality of the deliveries. • Collaborating actively with technical experts from other areas and across functions to hand over developed technologies in accordance with the quality requirements. You will also follow quality improvement actions in the organization and support customer case resolutions. • Documenting your work results, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues in applying it, to ensure timely and high-quality results, as well as proposing and implementing actions to solve quality problems in R&D projects. • Understanding and implementing the product quality and functional requirements and early applying the necessary assurance practices in the design process. • Leveraging in-depth knowledge in own technical areas, to ensure that technology results are properly safeguarded through effective IP management.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed University.
- 6 to 10 years of relevant R&D work experience in the areas of mechanical design, materials and design for manufacturability, with focus on industrial measurement applications for process automation.
- Overall understanding of Industrial product development processes and product lifecycle, experience in Safety Critical Industrial applications and machine safety.
- Experience in mechanical design for industrial applications. Knowledge of relevant standards for construction and design, static and dynamic load calculations, material strength calculations and simulations, testing and validation of designs.
- Sound knowledge and hands on experience on 3D-model based CAD design. Proficiency in mechanical design and simulation tools.
- Practical knowledge and experience in manufacturing principles and techniques.
- Specific knowledge on design skills covering enclosure protection like Ex-d, pressure housing directives, fluid dynamics is an added advantage.
- Knowledge in material science and material selection, covering materials for RoHS / REACH requirements, drinkable water applications, harsh (e.g. corrosive) environments.
- Knowledge about ESG and LCA, recycling of materials is an added advantage.
- Experience and expertise in design-for-manufacturability and design to cost.
- Experience in creating BOM structures and interfacing with manufacturing units.
- Strong interest in physics and sensing technologies. Domain knowledge in one of the following areas: process automation (preferred), industrial applications, automotive, medical.
- Excellent documentation and presentation skills, as well as ability to communicate complex concepts.
- Exposure on identifying technical risks, protecting the intellectual properties, and fostering a culture of innovation.
- Experience with reliability analysis such as stress analysis, DFMEA & MTBF and experience with failure investigations, Root Cause and Corrective Action Analysis (RCCA).
- Highly self-motivation and passion for Technology development with good communication and problem-solving skills for successful product development and delivery from R&D.
