Your role and responsibilities
As a Technical Support Specialist, you will focus on ABB’s state-of-the-art Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Digital Solutions within the Energy, Process and Marine industries. You will join a global acting team of specialists supporting ABB’s front-end organizations for all aspects of customer technical issue resolutions starting from design phase up to long-term operational phase. As a product specialist you will interact with Product Management, R&D and other subject matter experts to combine all technical expertise with an interest in finding customer solutions as well as addressing functionality aspects of our products. Then we look forward to receiving your application! • Support ABB’s front-end organizations in using ABB’s Process Automation DCS solutions with focus on ABB Ability System 800xA and Symphony Plus Melody • Diagnose and troubleshoot on technical issues - evaluation of problem descriptions, analysis of log files, remote diagnostics in installed base, etc. • Collaborate with cross-functional global teams, including product management, product development, and ABB front-end organizations, to address complex technical issues and improve products • Build and maintain a technical infrastructure that support you and global team in developing and testing solutions, as well as reproducing product issues • Build-up and maintain technical competence in ABB’s DCS product portfolio • Active exchange and competence development for local and global support teams
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in process automation, industrial communication (Ethernet, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Modbus TCP) and in ABB DCS products System 800xA and Symphony Plus Melody is considered an advantag
- Travel readiness (up to 5%), domestic and international
- A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies
- Demonstrating ownership, applying a problem-solving solution-oriented mindset, strong communication skills
- Fluent English language skills. German skills desirable
