Principal Technical Support Engineer
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead consulting assignments. Each day, you will contribute to the development of consultancy products and services. You will also showcase your expertise by participating in the creation of consulting business strategy. The work model for the role is: Remote This role is contributing to the Product Group PCP Operations/Process Automation/Process Control Platform/Technical Support in Italy. You will be mainly accountable for: •Being responsible for providing technical support to global Level 2 LBL resources. •This support includes written and verbal communications with the LD representative and potentially end customer, preparation of technical documentation for use by ABB resources and end customers, delivery of informal training internally, product and issue testing efforts in a lab environment, and this position does have the potential for both domestic and international site support occasionally as well as the remote support. •Applicant must be able to manage multiple customer and product issues and competing priorities with responsive follow up and confirmation of resolution. •Applicant will work with PA PCP R&D to resolve complex product technical issues and logistical problems while promoting and maintaining good customer relations and protecting the Company interests. He/She will also interact with other groups/departments/locations within ABB as a representative of Level 3 Technical Support to advocate for our customer’s needs. Qualifications for the role
- Engineering / Computer Science degree preferred plus a minimum of five to eight years of relevant technical experience. Will consider a combination of education and technical experience.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Fluent English (both written and spoken)
- General understanding of Process Controls
- Computer and Networking (setup and domains)
- Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Visual Studio
- C, C++ and other software development languages (preferred but not mandatory)
- Very good knowledge of ABB products, especially HMIs SW including Symphony Plus Operations
