Production Development Lead
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to optimize the Production organization’s assembly methods, processes, and equipment to minimize labor hours in accordance with business strategies related to quality, efficiency, costs, and safety. Each day, you will ensure appropriate production methods, cycle time, equipment performance, and materials/components in support of production targets. You will also showcase your expertise by defining the working phase sequence of a new production process to achieve the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget. The work model for the role is onsite in Richmond, VA. Financial assistance will be offered for relocation. You will be mainly accountable for: • Build plant lean culture by influencing, collaborating, and communicating with all levels of employees. • Develop and execute projects to design and improve new and existing production processes. • Deploy and implement re-layout of the production lines. • Evaluate production line balance, provide takt time, routings, production tools and collect data on production stops, and analyze root causes of productivity and ROTD loss and implement corrective actions. • Work with Material, Production, and process teams to support/develop new assembly processes. • Work with cross-functional teams to develop technical documentation. • Value Stream Mapping for processes and eliminate process waste. • Implement and execute 6S programs, Kaizen events, Root cause analysis. • Mentor, train, and motivate new team members through training initiatives. • Practice sound human relations and communications skills to motivate the workforce. • Track and resolve prioritized task and cost out projects in a timely manner. • Apply Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Manufacturing (DFM), Assembly (DFA), and Reliability (DFR) tools. • Achieve highest safety levels in the plant.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or STEM field with minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in lean manufacturing or operations.
- Ability to work within and/or leading cross functional teams and influence decisions.
- Fast learning/aptitude in manufacturing software and hardware tools CAD/Windchill/SAP, etc
- Knowledge of value stream mapping, one-piece flow, Kaizen, Gemba, 6S, and other lean tools
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a customer-oriented mindset
- Prior experience with production processes (Layout, Automation, Lean projects)
- Excellent project tracking and detailed planning skills
- Able to present technical information.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
