Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work according to work instructions and in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. Deliver excellent customer service to satisfy customers. In close co-operation with customers and other ABB teams, take actions to identify new service business opportunities for ABB. The main area of activity is on ABB LV Drives, with future involvement in DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and QCS (Quality Control Systems), supplied by ABB in the Pulp & Paper industry, mainly in Italy and occasionally abroad. The work model for the role is: #LI-Onsite This role contributes to the Process Industries Division within the Process Automation Business Area. You will be mainly accountable for: • Service Delivery and Troubleshooting Performing installation, commissioning and servicing of ABB Low Voltage Drives and Multidrives Systems, AC and DC, with future extension, after attending proper training, to DCS and QCS (measurement scanners and sensors) in Pulp & Paper plants. Performing field service tasks, identifying technical problems, and conducting analysis through remote or on-site activities Executing corrective and preventive maintenance activities Troubleshooting Equipment/Process failures, both on site and remotely, and executing the needed corrective actions Performing on call service and technical site interventions on 24/7 shifts Participating in internal tests on supplied systems • Customer focus and Sales Support Contributing to customer satisfaction by planning and executing service works according to customer order and expectations, with a clear understanding of the sense of urgency and care in the direct area of responsibility Ensuring customer retention and expansion of provided services by delivering superior customer experiences While on-site, working with the customer to identify opportunities for improving and optimizing the customers operations Cooperating with the sales team to identify new service business opportunities for ABB in its installed base Supporting sales with service offers for revamping, upgrades and spare parts proposals Proactively investigating, analyzing and promoting, in coordination with the engineering and sales functions, new services and solutions to be offered (e.g. in the area of Advanced Services) • Documentation and reports Preparing all needed documents and customer reports in a timely manner Actively operating to populate, clean and update the internal repository of installed base data • Health, safety and integrity Applying safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities. Reporting unsafe practices and incidents
Qualifications for the role
- High school diploma in a technical area (an Industrial Automation engineering degree is appreciated)
- You have a minimum 3 years of experience in field service activities
- Extensive knowledge and proven experience withn Low Voltage Drives
- You have suitable skills with standard Office PC software tools, e.g. Microsoft Office
- You are willing to travel for frequent short or medium duration missions (in Italy and occasionally abroad), and you are available for on-call service and technical site interventions (typically one week/month)
- Ability to proactively manage the relationship with the customer, even in critical situations
- You have the ability to work both autonomously and in collaboration with teams
- You are at ease communicating in Italian and English language, both written and spoken
- Additional appreciated skills: knowledge of ABB LV Drives, Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or PLCs, Paper Machines process and related Process Control & Tuning, Quality Control Systems (QCS), also in combination with DCS, Standard communication protocols like Profibus, Modbus TCP and RTU; Virtualized systems; ABB Control System product and ABB QCS Platforms and Sensors
