Your role and responsibilities

The ABB Measurement & Analytics factory in Quebec is a world leader in the field of spectroscopy. Our contract engineering service is the largest Canadian supplier of space optical sensors used, among other things, for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions and for global weather forecasting. Our factory is also recognized for its expertise in the development and manufacturing of various products that meet several industrial analysis needs on a daily basis. By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Quebec, you will actively contribute to the activities of a dynamic and stimulating multidisciplinary team. In this position, you will be responsible for the design and updating of the electronic systems of ABB products, for the Measurement and Analysis products of the Process Automation (PA) division, thus ensuring the highest level of quality for our products in the space and defense (SDS) field. Reporting to the supervisor of the electronics group, you will work as a HW architect within the electrical engineering team (Electronics Group). • Coordinates and leads the electronic development of a project with internal or external teams (Electronic and FPGA Designer). • Writes and follows up on electronic requirements. • Responsible for electrical interfaces (internal/external) as well as product power budgets. • Guarantees electronic deliverables (writer, approver) to the client and ensures proper follow-up of the development process. • Responsible for the project electronic development plan. • Ensures manufacturing follow-up with external suppliers (PCB, CCA, Cables). • Conducts or directs design reviews (schematic, Layout, test plans, simulations, etc.). • Develops electronic architectures and recommendations during the proposal phase (project budget). • Acts as the voice of the Electronics team to the project manager and the client, the system engineer (progress, planning, technical points). • Performs and maintains electronic risk analysis during a project. • Provides technical support to the electronic development team (space part selection, design best practices, etc.). • Supports the Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) team in developing test and integration plans.

Qualifications for the role

  • Significant experience in leading/coordinating a technical team.
  • Strong ability to analyze electronic circuits, wiring diagrams, and understand FPGA development.
  • Experience in the aerospace, avionics, or military field is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the SCRUM development framework and JIRA is a plus.
  • Familiarity with EEE-INST-002 and ECSS-Q-ST-60C standards for electronic component selection is a plus.
  • General knowledge of electronic assembly manufacturing according to IPC-J-STD-001HS is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Good knowledge of French and English, both spoken and written, with excellent communication skills. French is required. English is also required to communicate with customers outside Quebec on a regular basis.
