Your role and responsibilities
The ABB Measurement & Analytics factory in Quebec is a world leader in spectroscopy. Our contract engineering service is the largest Canadian supplier of space optical sensors used, among other things, for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions and global weather forecasting. Our factory is also recognized for its expertise in the development and manufacturing of various products that meet several industrial analysis needs daily. By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Quebec, you will actively contribute to our clients' projects, as well as to the research and development of our technology. You will be part of a dynamic and stimulating multidisciplinary team where you will perform various tasks while ensuring the continuous improvement of our methodology, tools, and work processes. Your role, as an engineer or scientist, you will be part of multidisciplinary project teams and, in collaboration with other specialists, ensure and guide the design of analytical instruments for process analysis products. The development of your algorithms will directly influence engineering decisions. • Interact directly with the project manager and the client to understand their needs. • Guide the team towards the development of a cutting-edge product. • Ensure system compliance and manage technical risks. • Create and design the system. • Model systems and predict their performance. • Create algorithms for signal and data processing. • Develop technical budgets and define their margins. • Collaborate with the integration and test team in developing and defining test plans and verification and validation strategies. • Ensure compliance with intellectual property rules and act accordingly. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our calculation tools and systems engineering methods.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's degree in physics, physical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Expertise in MATLAB and Python programming.
- Experience in validating and deploying algorithms in a space production environment is an asset.
- Familiarity with development and code management tools (e.g., Git, Jira).
- Knowledge of mathematical modeling of physical measurement systems (e.g., optical instrumentation, radar, LIDAR, and spectrometers) and their calibration methods.
- At least 2 years of experience as a technical lead for algorithm applications in product development projects, preferably with experience in the space sector.
