Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to conceptualize, identify, explore, and implement world-leading technologies, products, and systems within and across product groups/divisions/business areas. Each day, you will ensure delivery of results, foster innovation, and strategically develop and secure Research and Development (R&D) capabilities with a cost-effective footprint. You will also showcase your expertise by coordinating at various management levels as well as with external partners to enhance and secure ABB´s global position and profitability in the medium and long term. You will be mainly accountable for: 1.In this role, the successful candidate will lead and develop the resources, competencies and capacity and will coordinate activities across the various teams. 2.One of the main responsibilities of this role is to lead, build and develop excellent R&D competency together with the team leaders, aligned with current and future needs of the product portfolios. It is expected that the R&D Manager spends time and engages with the resources to learn, understand and build trust and relationships. 3.Our new leader for the R&D Lab Bangalore should be eager to further develop this R&D Lab and the team members as a part of the global R&D community within Energy Industries. The R&D Lab Bangalore holds strong domain and development experience and knowledge within automation and electrical, software development, tools and work processes. Collaboration is fundamental to this position both within ABB and with customers. In this role, it is very important to have good communication skills and the ability to listen. 4.We are looking for an R&D Manager with strong experience from leadership within industrial R&D and with product development 5.As part of managing competencies and capacity, this role will have the overall responsibility to ensure resource allocation and coordination of activities across various teams both within R&D, and across functions and the business. The candidate will acquire technical insight in the product portfolios, which will allow him/her to contribute actively with new ideas and input to the strategy and prioritizations for the product roadmap together with the product manager, technical product managers and others. 6.The leader of the R&D Lab should create and nurture an innovative environment that allows the teams and resources to take the next steps and contribute actively with new ideas and input to the existing product portfolios and new products and solutions, and also to improve the ways of working.

Qualifications for the role

• o Relevant BTech /MTech. education in Electrical/Electronics or Control engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
• o Min. 12 year’s experience with industrial R&D & 10 year’s experience with leadership/ line manager, preferably within R&D or prod-uct development
• o Genuine interest in working with and developing people as the key resources, as well as building, maintaining and developing competence as the key asset
• o Experience with product development, including specifications, design, requirement management, testing, verification, risk management and R&D project management
• o Experience from working with industrial applications or products, ideally within auto-mation and electrification
• o Strong ability to collaborate with people and build teams, both within the R&D lab and with stakeholders outside of the R&D Lab
• o Good understanding of and experience with finance and budget including follow up and delivering results,Self-driven learner and wide technical interest in technology
