Your role and responsibilities
As a Senior Energy Storage Engineer, you will report directly to the R&D Hardware Chapter Lead in Quartino. In this role, you will leverage your deep technical expertise to evaluate and qualify potential Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and their manufacturers. A key task will be ensuring compatibility between Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and ESS solutions. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of emerging applications, focusing on multifunctional UPS systems for ancillary services, including frequency response and peak shaving. The work model for the role is hybrid. #LI-Hybrid This role is contributing to the Smart Power business in Quartino (Switzerland). You will be mainly accountable for: • Leading the technical evaluation and qualification of Energy Storage Systems (ESS), including battery cells, battery racks, and Battery Management Systems (BMS), while coordinating with stakeholders to explore and assess emerging battery technologies. • Managing supplier qualification processes and assisting the certification of batteries and systems to meet both American and IEC standards. • Contributing to the development of new applications for energy storage technologies, providing technical expertise and insights on battery systems. • Identifying and communicating key energy storage requirements to ensure alignment with project and industry needs.
Qualifications for the role
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with electrical systems and/or complex power electronics.
- Familiarity with energy storage systems and batteries.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to simplify complex concepts.
- Strong team player with collaborative skills.
- Agile methodology experience is a plus.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
