Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will support the sales organization and customers throughout the proposal and bidding process by preparing and finalizing bids, estimates, and quotations. Your work will be based on customer specifications, requirements, and budgets, ensuring both market competitiveness and optimal profitability for the company. This position is located in the EU country, preferably in Oslo, Norway. The role will be part of the Global Sales Operations team. The work model for the role is hybrid: #LI-hybrid This role is contributing to the Business Line Marine Systems in Marine & Ports Division. You will be mainly accountable for: • Developing competitive bids, estimates, and quotations by selecting the optimal product and solution mix while considering technical and commercial factors. Ensuring timely, well-documented tenders with accurate cost details. • Overseeing the preparation of all bid components, including technical specifications (e.g., selecting suitable technology and products), financial aspects (e.g., pricing, cash flow analysis), and project management elements (e.g., estimating engineering and commissioning hours). • Assessing customer needs and competitor offerings using market insights and sales-provided data to enhance proposal competitiveness. • Identifying and mitigating risks in bids, quotations, and contract agreements. Providing necessary input and participating in the Risk Review process in line with ABB policies. • Building and maintaining strong customer relationships to understand their needs and ensure a positive experience throughout the sales process. Providing technical support to Sales Managers during customer meetings. • Evaluating potential vendors and supplier offers to ensure compliance with project specifications. Collaborating with Supply Chain Management for procurement alignment.
Qualifications for the role
- At least 5 years’ experience with systems bidding process, even better if within power and propulsion systems.
- A relevant education at B.Sc. or M.Sc. level – electrical is an advantage.
- A business-driven mind-set with customer focus.
- Strong interest for new technology within low- and zero emission.
- Self-driven personality.
- Ability to work on a multicultural environment.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
- Location in the EU country – Norway is an advantage.
