Your role and responsibilities
Establish and maintain a HSE culture within North American ABB Traction Business Line, Richmond, Virginia and Mt. Olive, New Jersey, by assuring and controlling the HSE with systems, tools and teams to exceed safety expectations while ensuring sustainable operations. Responsible for developing & maintaining the HSE of the local unit, sustaining positive HSE metrics, upholding continuous improvement culture. In addition, be responsible for the facility management for both locations. The work model for the role is: Onsite #LI-Onsite This role is contributing to the Motion Traction Division in Mechanicsville, VA and Mount Olive, NJ. You will be mainly accountable for: - Supports managers and employees to ensure area of responsibility is compliant with HSE standards, regulations and guidelines. Prepares safety instructions and notices and assists with relevant training. Reports HSE incidents. Feeds back on lessons learned and best practice from own unit and across ABB to management and employees. Delivers and deploys HSE training, audit and improvement programs for the Local Division. Reports progress on implementation of ABB Group Sustainability objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to the Division, as required. - HSE audits and workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and risks and highlights corrective measures required. Supports follow up of improvement actions in the Local Division. - Act as the site emergency overseer managing emergencies as well as ensuring that the Emergency Response Teams, First Response, and Business Continuity teams are in place; Prepares and oversees crisis management team and processes in coordination with US security and plans and executes required crisis team programs - Contributes to and/or plans and executes facility related projects. Develops and reports on project objectives. Manages project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors
Qualifications for the role
- BS Health, Safety or Environmental discipline or safety related field
- 5+ years’ experience in the field of HSE, Security and Plant/Building maintenance.
- Experience in Plant/Building Maintenance
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and standards
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication capabilities, able to work across time zones, regions, cultures, disciplines, and personalities.
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving abilities, organizational skills, communication, and people skills.
- Ability to build and utilize teams to resolve complex problems, identify root causes, and establish corrective actions
- Candidate Must already posses a work authorization that would allow them to legally work for ABB in the United States.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in production of electromechanical components related to Traction converters and battery chargers
