Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for engineering activities in the area of hard- and software for drive control systems in material handling applications with LV and MV frequency converters for ABB in Cottbus, Germany. You will develop and optimize drives application software in various phases of customer or R&D projects. The work model for the role is: ABB Office in Cottbus / Germany. #LI-Onsite You will be mainly accountable for: • Leading the Drives Software engineering for material handling applications, software testing, commissioning and process optimization for drive control and automation systems • Supporting product development and introduction of drives application for new hardware and software, including IT/OT interface systems • Resolving complex technical issues both remotely and at customer sites worldwide. • Developing your engineering and communication skills by coaching customers and partners • Working and networking with engineering colleagues, drives product development and drives support globally • Deployment, commissioning and optimization of ready - made data analytics modules into the drive control platform
Qualifications for the role
- Minimum 2 years of experience in projects, product development or practical work as drives engineer and/or automation engineer
- Sound knowledge in engineering techniques, processes and tools as Matlab, CODESYS, Python
- Experience with process simulation and software development for mechatronic systems
- Strong focus on analytical work of complex VFD / Automation systems
- A high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about new technologies
- A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills in both English and German
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical academic program such as electrical engineering, automation technology or mechatronics
