Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as the Design Authority for Substation Automation and Power Management System projects within the High Power Rectifier (HPR) business, part of the Process Industries division in India. You will handle assignments across multiple moderate-sized projects or segments of large-scale projects in a cost-effective, high-quality, and safety-compliant manner, while adhering to cybersecurity and contract specifications.

This position contributes to High Power Rectifier/Growth Industries/Process Automation/Process Industries in India.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Acting as the technical lead, approving design deliverables and guiding the technical execution.
- Shaping and delivering solutions in alignment with customer needs and collecting feedback for continuous improvement.
- Creating work plans and cost estimates in collaboration with Project Managers to ensure delivery within budget and timelines.
- Finalizing design concepts like Fail-Safe Philosophy during Kick-Off and Design Freeze meetings.
- Coordinating with manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and supply chain teams to ensure proper design execution, installation, and commissioning.
- Conducting peer reviews, applying design-for-excellence principles, and mentoring engineers on best practices.
- Participating in technical risk and opportunity assessments, contract variation management, and project gross margin assurance.
- Preparing technical documentation, safety checklists, commissioning reports, and ensuring documentation is updated post-installation.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Electrical or Electrical & Communication Engineering with First Class from a reputed university.
- 7–10 years of experience in control/automation, IED engineering, and commissioning in electrical protection relay applications.
- Direct experience in Power Management Systems, Substation Automation Systems, and High Power Rectifier Systems across industries such as Metals (Aluminium, Copper, Zinc), Cement, Caustic, and Paper.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems in process plants (220kV to 110V AC/DC), rectifier transformers, control panels, and DM cooling systems.
- Proficiency in distributed electrical integration and communication protocols such as IEC61850, OPC, Modbus, Modbus TCP/IP, Profinet, and Profibus.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SAP, Acrobat, PowerPoint, and IPM.
- Proficient communication (oral & written), team collaboration, technical writing, customer focus, and mentoring ability.
- Willingness to travel extensively (150–200 days/year) to support project execution, testing, and commissioning activities.
