Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to Manages the marketing of ABB's offering(s) to targeted market segments and manages the offering(s) throughout its/their lifecycle, in line with market needs and division/product group/business line strategy and targets. Accountable for the long-term profitable growth of an offering. Supports business results by overseeing each step involved in the offering lifecycle including development, launch, go-to-market, maintenance, pricing, and profitability. The work model for the role is: Onsite You will be mainly accountable for: CORE RESPONSIBILITIES • Leads the market intelligence analysis. • Identifies potential gaps in the portfolio, with respect to the competition and new market opportunities. • Owns the technical and market specification for the offering and determines an offering business plan that supports sustainable growth. • Leads the lifecycle management process, analyzes current offering, defines and tracks performance metrics, plans appropriate measures (e.g., enhancements, cost reductions, and phase-outs), and makes decisions on offering obsolescence and end-of life to ensure that current and future market requirements are met and to maximize the profitability. • Sets targets and monitors offering costs and gives inputs to operations functions (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Production) to maximize competitiveness and profitability. • Defines new offering plans, sets technical, price, cost, and capital expenditure targets. • Contributes to development of new portfolios by leading customer need and value analysis, planning the roadmap to create maximum value, and following-up on offering portfolio performance. • Prioritizes new offering development projects with the responsibility for achieving the targets (product characteristics, time, costs, capital expenditure, pay-back) and coordinating with cross-functional teams. • Owns and approves defined offering development process stage gates. • Initiates and drives product market communication strategy, including product launch planning and implementation. • Manages different channel to market scenarios in coordination with channel partners and Marketing and Sales teams to ensure the best possible market coverage. • Defines product customer value proposition per segment and channel and ensures clear communication to channels and users, to deliver clear offering positioning within the portfolio with defined values per offering line. • Understands and defines current market segmentation and related offering positioning. • Responsible for profitability and margin of the offering. • Drives the annual business planning process and facilitates agreement between sales demand and supply. • Monitors global sales target achievement and tender volumes and takes actions as appropriate. • Defines pricing strategies and manages the global frame agreements and/or large-scale cross-border projects to ensure one ABB approach. • Ensures that correct pricing is applied for all countries within the relevant business area. • Develops and maintains a global reference price list appropriate to both ABB internal offering positioning strategy and competitor offerings and ensures that it is developed and deployed in line with the needs of individual markets. • Develops product management processes and tools continuously, including interfaces to other key functions and develops sales and tendering tools to support the Sales organization. • Initiates creation of external and internal product training modules and programs. • Initiates and drives cross-functional and cross-organizational product and solution innovation teams and monitors the development of all standards and market trends and provides inputs to R&D team for patent screening process and intellectual property rights protection. • Manages new offering launch and lifecycle from phase-in to phase-out. • Coordinates and supervises the product roadmap development. • Defines and oversees recovery plans as necessary. • Responsible for the profitability and lifecycle of the offering, by defining pricing guidelines and market position. • Oversees inventory levels and sales volumes on a regular basis to ensure the ability to meet customer orders. • Tracks and analyzes offering performance and trends in terms of volume and profitability. LICENSE TO OPERATE / CORE VALUES • Understands and defines current market segmentation and related offering positioning including relevant regulations and standards e.g., on HSE or cyber security (both external and ABB internal). • Creates sustainability strategy for the global offering portfolio to support ABB's commitment towards circular economy. • Ensures all staff (under scope) understand ABB’s core values and group safety and integrity standards and act accordingly. • Implements and ensures compliance with the ABB code of conduct, global and local standards, tools, policies, and processes in their assigned area. • Ensures adherence to all internal and statutory regulations and policies pertaining to the teams in scope. • Ensures integrity and compliance with ABB values and ethics in all activities across all teams in scope. • Accountable for the health and safety of all employees and contractors for the teams in scope, and continuous improvement in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) processes and integrity performance. COLLABORATION / LEADERSHIP • Acts as an interface between external market and internal functions (e.g., Sales, Operations, and R&D) and forecasts volume trends on a regular basis to ensure the operational capability to fulfill customer orders. • Coordinates the analysis process for market evaluation and contributes to marketing plan development. • Ensures technical and commercial support to Sales teams for critical or special negotiations. • Works with R&D team to propose and evaluate product feasibility projects and roadmaps for new offering and variants. • Collaborates with internal Marketing and Sales teams to define the marketing plan, including marketing communication activities, training activities, and sales initiatives. • Ensures that their own area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed. • Guides, motivates, and develops direct and indirect reports within HR policies. Qualifications for the role
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in Product management with knowledge of MV drives and systems.
- Experience of business development. (preferred)
- Market and products specific knowledge of large motors and MV drives products will be beneficial.
- A National Diploma / University degree (engineering background preferable)
- English proficiency both in written and oral. Excellent presentation skills.
- Proficient in computer skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and manage effective working relationships at all levels.
