This Position reports to:
R&D Team Lead
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success being part of the R&D department in Italy, responsible for several low voltage protection devices (RCCB, RCBO, MCB, AFDD, motor reclosing, fuseholders..), for measurement devices and for enclosure.
Reporting to the R&D team manager, you will support and contribute to the development of new products, translating market requirements into robust and efficient technical solutions

You will be mainly accountable for:
•Participate to New Products Development Projects as reference of the R&D colleagues
•Evaluate the technical feasibility of new products, accordingly to the requirements proposed by Product Managers, supporting also the economical analysis.
•Coordinate prototype construction to ensure alignment with project/task timeline; plan and analyze experimental tests, to verify technical solutions; adjust design as required based on test results.
•Participate to design of mechanical parts and assemblies of electromechanical devices and products, in collaboration with the Mechanical, Electromagnetic and Electronic design teams.
•Prepare design calculations using standard and non-standard simulation tools.
•Evaluate requests from Production, Quality and Engineering department and propose product modifications accordingly
•Support operation functions during production process implementation of new products or modifications to existing ones
•Propose appropriate list of materials necessary for design, providing and maintaining Bills of Materials of products.
Qualifications:
•Degree in Engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Biomedical..)
•Previous experience in development and technical coordination of electromechanical and electronic devices.
•Basic or higher proficiency in CAD software Catia V5 or Creo
•Basic or higher proficiency in Matlab/Simulink
•Basic or higher proficiency in Mechanical multibody simulations and a CAE environment, such as, e.g., Ansys, Maxwell
•Proven participation to FMEA process or RCA identification
•Knowledge of statistical analysis, tolerance analysis and experience in lean 6σ approach
•Ability to work in SAP environment for what related to BOM
•Good level of English, both written and spoken
•Result orientation and personal ownership of tasks
