Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with dependently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both in technology, software, product, and system development.
The work model for the role is: hybrid.
This role is contributing to the Electrification/Smart Power/CoE Simulation in Sweden.
Possible locations: Sweden, Finland, Italy.
As a member of the Center of Excellence for Simulation, you will:
Collaborate closely with international and interdisciplinary teams on design, development and optimization of new ABB electrification products, like Circuit Breakers,
Contactors, Fusegears, Switches, Soft Starters, etc.
Provide expertise to Agile Teams (AT) by jointly creating models, running simulations, and calculating estimated behaviors.
Carry out Multiphysics (Electromagnetic, CFD, and Thermal) analysis and simulations from MCAD models.
Support test activities (test plan, testing, inspection, and analysis).
Engage in technical discourse, offering insights into electric arc mitigations.
Documentation of simulations results and suggestions for design improvement.
Creating, improving and supporting designers on simulation tools/methodologies.
Drive continuous enhancement of simulation methodologies and SW tools.
Qualifications for the role:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines.
Profound experience (5+ years) in high-reliability electric hardware development (aerospace, automotive, or industrial).
Knowledge of electric arc and related physics is preferred.
Proficient in EM, CFD, and Thermal analysis and simulations (e.g., ANSYS).
Skilled in MCAD tools (e.g., PTC Creo) for models defeaturing.
Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
Fluent in reading and producing engineering documentation, specifications, and test procedures.
