This Position reports to:

Production Development Manager

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as the technical lead for all engineering activities in assignments. Each day, you will ensure the activities related to all engineering disciplines within the project are executed in an efficient and cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by acting as a design authority for a particular engineering discipline and completing the corresponding engineering assignments.

The work model for the role is Onsite.

This role is contributing to the Production Development team in the ABB Electrification Smart Power division (ELSP) in Mebane, NC. The main stakeholders are Operations, Quality, Planning, Maintenance and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute manufacturing projects focused on automation, process improvement, cost reduction, and capital investments—ensuring scope, budget, and ROI targets are met.

• Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with internal teams (Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Safety, Finance) and external partners (vendors, contractors) to align on technical solutions, layout changes, and asset tracking.

• Manage project logistics and communication, including status updates, action registers, risk logs, and milestone tracking to ensure timely and accountable execution.

• Support implementation flexibility, including weekend availability, while conducting feasibility studies, risk assessments, and adhering to safety protocols like ABRA and MOC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering with 5+ years in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

• Proven success in managing technical projects and applying Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.

• Skilled in AutoCAD/design software, Microsoft Office, and project management tools like MS Project or Smartsheet.

• Familiar with health, safety, and regulatory standards in manufacturing environments.

• Strong interpersonal skills for vendor and team collaboration.

• PMP Certification is a plus.

• Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States.
