Your Role and Responsibilities
ABB Corporate Research, in close collaboration with its different business areas, is developing the foundations for the next generation of ABB products. We would like to give a motivated student an opportunity to complete a six-month internship with a multidisciplinary team at the Sensing and Analytics group of ABB.
At ABB, we envisioned future marine and port operations that are safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. To realize this future, we are developing advanced technological solutions that are based on various sensing modalities.
During this internship, you will have an opportunity to work on different aspects of a system for marine and port automation. The focus is on machine learning algorithms. You will work with synthetic and real-world data from various sensors (e.g., camera or LiDAR).
The work model for the role is: #LI-Onsite
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Exploring current challenges in Marine or Ports via direct interaction with ABB R&D units
- Reviewing academic literature
- Designing, evaluating and documenting potential solutions
- Prototyping solutions quickly through proof-of-concept implementations
Qualifications for the role:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or similar field; enrollment to 5th semester or higher is essential
- Interest in at least one of the following fields: data analytics, machine learning, computer vision
- Experience with Python and PyTorch is required; experience with ROS2 is a plus
- Proficiency in English
- Willingness to learn and quickly adapt to new research topics
- Self-motivation, hands-on attitude, and ability to think conceptually as well as express ideas clearly and convincingly
- Availability for six months (start and end dates are open for discussion)
