Your role and responsibilities
In our Product Engineering team, we are currently looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to support our Medium-Voltage drives portfolio.

In this role you will be part of the engineering team and report to the Engineering Manager. You will support maintaining the product portfolio, generate specific mechanical drawings and documentation, and create update kits for our installed base. Furthermore, you will help to maintain our tool landscape, specifically the PLM environment.

The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-hybrid

This role is contributing to the Medium Voltage System Drives, Motion High Power Division, in Untersiggenthal, Switzerland.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Designing and updating mechanical components for medium voltage drives, ensuring compliance with standards and accuracy in all design iterations.
  • Managing and maintaining the PLM environment (Windchill), including generating complete part lists in SAP and PLM, and arranging update and upgrade kits for product lifecycle needs.
  • Creating, modifying, and maintaining mechanical drawings and corresponding technical documentation (3D, 2D) using M-CAD tools (Solid Edge / Creo), while applying best practices for clarity and completeness.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with electrical engineering, release managers, and production lines, using various tools to evaluate and verify designs, and steadily contributing to continuous product and process improvements.

Qualifications for the role

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • You have several years of experience in designing mechanical constructions and applying engineering principles in practice.
  • You possess solid knowledge in PLM systems, particularly Windchill, and understand product lifecycle management processes.
  • You are detail-oriented and focused on delivering high-quality results within defined objectives.
  • Your approach to tasks reflects a high level of diligence and accountability.
  • You have collaboration and communication skills, being known as effective in cross-functional environments.
  • You possess sound knowledge of Office 365, SAP, and M-CAD tools (Solid Edge, Creo), with fluency in English and basic German skills; knowledge of ABB’s product portfolio.
