This Position reports to:
Business Chief Financial Officer
As the Head of Technical Accounting and Accounting Policy, you will be reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer of ABB Robotics, headquartered in Zurich. You will ensure a true and fair view of financial data provided to all stakeholders of ABB Robotics in compliance with the Accounting & Reporting Policies based on U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP). You will also be responsible for the ongoing assessment of IFRS differences from US GAAP required for reporting of financial data to our future owner, SoftBank, ensuring that the differences are documented and processes are in place to measure and report these differences.
Furthermore, you will work in a cross functional team, with at least one direct report and be the leader responsible for supporting the ABB Robotics business in applying effective Accounting & Reporting (A&R) processes to facilitate timely and accurate preparation of consolidated reporting in line with the latest regulatory requirements.
The location of the role is flexible in Europe with preferred locations in Zurich or Milan.
The working model is Hybrid #LI-hybrid
Responsibilities
- Responsible for operational execution and processes of ABB Robotics, including definition of the standards and policies for A&R, validation of subsidiaries’ inputs and preparation of Group financial statements.
- Be the lead technical accounting expert in a cross-functional team and act as the ultimate gatekeeper in evaluating and concluding on complex US GAAP A&R topics including e.g. revenue recognition, treasury activities, and provisions.
- Conclude on technical accounting matters and review and approve technical accounting memos for internal stakeholders and the external auditors.
- Play a leading role in company-wide projects with focus on A&R including the implementation of updates to US GAAP standards.
- Maintain a current understanding of the IFRS environment to monitor any significant differences from US GAAP to facilitate the accurate reporting to SoftBank in compliance with IFRS.
- Maintain and improve on the training program on accounting and reporting related matters.
- Design and maintain internal controls over financial reporting and perform control activities in the respective area of responsibility.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s level education in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
- U.S. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) coupled with a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in technical accounting and financial reporting according to US GAAP standards. Good knowledge of IFRS reporting standards will also be beneficial.
- International work experience obtained in a multinational company in the industrial sector.
- Experience in finance project management involving significant change management.
- Experience in delivering accounting and reporting trainings according to US GAAP standards.
- Fluent in English, other languages are beneficial.
- Skilled oral and written communication skills with the ability to deliver clear and concise guidance and instructions to subsidiaries, other corporate functions and the business.
- Ability to be diplomatic and yet consistent in the resolution of identified deviations from accounting policies.
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with personnel at all organizational levels and contributing to a team.
