Key responsibilities
In this role, you will actively contribute to ABB’s success through technology, software, product, and system development. On a daily basis, you will identify relevant challenges and develop innovative, practical solutions. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your expertise by contributing ideas, working independently, and collaborating closely within a Research & Development (R&D) team.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Independent contribution to Research & Development projects with a clearly defined scope of responsibility and limited supervision, including collaboration within interdisciplinary Program Assemblies.
Development and implementation of technical solutions within the respective domain (e.g., mechanics, electronics, thermal engineering, or software), covering concept development and technical requirements definition through design, implementation, integration, testing, and handover to operations.
Ensuring compliance with relevant development processes, technical standards, and design guidelines, and consistently applying them within the Program Assembly and overall project environment.
Ownership of assigned project objectives related to quality, schedule, scope, and cost, including proactive identification, escalation, and mitigation of technical risks.
Qualifications for the role
At least 10 years of professional experience in embedded software development using Assembly and C, with strong expertise in Z80 Assembly, ASIC-based systems, and Z80 debugging techniques (e.g. using logic analyzers).
A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field, combined with deep technical knowledge of software development for control and embedded systems.
Fluency in both German and English, with the ability to communicate effectively in technical and interdisciplinary environments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork across functions and disciplines.
A self-motivated and independent working style, with the ability to thrive in an Agile team environment, paired with strong analytical, problem-solving skills and a clear willingness to continuously learn and share knowledge.
