This Position reports to:
Business Chief Financial Officer
As the Senior Manager of Technical Accounting, you will be reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting and Consolidation of ABB Robotics, headquartered in Zurich. This role is responsible for researching, interpreting, and implementing new accounting standards, establishing and maintaining accounting policies, and providing technical guidance on complex transactions across the organization. You will ensure a true and fair view of financial data provided to all stakeholders of ABB Robotics in compliance with the Company’s Accounting & Reporting (A&R) Policies. You will also be responsible for the Company’s conversion from reporting under US GAAP to IFRS and continued reporting of financial data under IFRS to our future owner, SoftBank.
Furthermore, you will work in a cross functional team and be the leader responsible for supporting ABB Robotics in applying effective A&R processes and policies to facilitate timely and accurate preparation of consolidated reporting in line with the latest regulatory and parent company requirements. This position plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality financial reporting, strong governance, and effective communication with external auditors and senior leadership.
As a result of organizational changes, this role replaces the previously advertised Head of Technical Accounting and Accounting Policy. We will continue to consider all previous applicants for this revised role as well.
The location of the role is flexible in Europe with preferred locations in Zurich or Milan.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for technical accounting matters within ABB Robotics, including definition of standards and policies for A&R, validation of subsidiaries’ inputs and preparation of technical accounting memos and training materials.
- Be the lead technical accounting expert in a cross-functional team and act as the ultimate gatekeeper in evaluating and concluding on complex IFRS A&R topics including e.g. revenue recognition, business combinations, leases, treasury activities, provisions, complex financial instruments, etc.
- Conclude on technical accounting matters by collecting information throughout the organization and documenting those details within technical accounting memos for internal stakeholders and the external auditors.
- Act as the primary IFRS technical accounting contact for external auditors.
- Advise business, finance, and legal teams on accounting implications of strategic initiatives and transactions.
- Play a leading role in company-wide projects with focus on A&R including the implementation of updates to IFRS standards and specifically in the conversion of the Company’s reporting from US GAAP to IFRS.
- Maintain a current understanding of the IFRS environment to monitor for changes and updates to facilitate accurate reporting to SoftBank in compliance with IFRS.
- Own and maintain the Company’s IFRS Accounting Policy Manual and provide training materials and workshops to communicate key policies and updates and reporting related matters.
- Design and maintain internal controls over financial reporting and perform control activities in the respective areas of responsibility.
Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s level degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
- Internationally recognized accounting certification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CA).
- Minimum of eight years of experience in technical accounting and financial reporting according to IFRS standards, ideally at one of the Big 4 accounting firms.
- International work experience with multinational companies in the industrial sector, with knowledge of the ABB finance landscape a significant advantage.
- Experience in finance project management involving significant change management.
- Experience in delivering accounting and reporting trainings according to IFRS standards.
- Fluent in English, other languages are an added advantage.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to deliver clear and concise guidance and instructions to subsidiaries, other corporate functions and the business.
- Ability to be diplomatic and yet persistent in the resolution of identified deviations from accounting policies.
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with personnel at all organizational levels and contributing to a team.
