Your Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact. Join us as Senior Project Engineer. This is an exciting time to be a part of ABB’s Marine & Ports journey to sustainability. We’re well positioned and committed to paving the way to a zero-emission marine industry, providing greater efficiency and reliability to shipowners and helping vessels meet the demands of today and tomorrow.
- Serve as the technical lead across multiple projects, approving engineering designs and ensuring alignment with project scope and standards.
- Engineer integrated marine systems including Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) systems, Automation and control systems, MV/LV power systems, Protection, control, and monitoring schemes, E-house based system solutions.
- Review engineering documentation to ensure adherence to safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements.
- Drive best practices that support safe and efficient marine system design.
- Collaborate closely with customers throughout design, engineering, approval, and commissioning phases.
- Prepare and deliver technical documentation, submissions, and design presentations to secure timely approvals.
- Lead the project execution technically and ensure delivery meets contract specifications, performance , reliability, and safety expectations.
- Support and manage site activities including system installation, integration, and commissioning.
Qualifications for the Role
- Bachelor’s/Master degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong hands-on experience with integrated solutions involving Variable Speed Drives, Automation and PLC systems, MV/LV electrical systems.
- Familiar with NZ electrical standards and safety procedures in handling the project engineering, installation and commissioning is preferred.
- Solid understanding of safety and cybersecurity standards in engineering projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and manage customer expectations.
- Proactive, innovative mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and ownership.
