Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the deployment of the quality strategy for a local organizational unit, including quality culture, systems, tools, and competent teams with the aim to achieve and exceed customer expectations, while ensuring sustainable operations. Each day, you will assist the organization in achieving the right mix of prevention, continuous improvement, robust root cause analysis, quick response, and sustainable solutions to problems. You will also showcase your expertise by collaborating with local functions that impact the quality results to reach the targets for the organizational unit and aim for world-class performance.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Lead testing and quality assurance for Incoming, In-Process, and Outgoing materials in compliance with ISO 9001 and IEC standards such as IEC 61439 (low-voltage switchgear assemblies) and IEC 62271 (high-voltage switchgear and controlgear).
    Lead quality projects, including specification verification, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and customer witness testing.
  • Implementing short-, medium-, and long-term strategies to develop and enhance the quality management system and product development based on identified risks and opportunities, in collaboration with the local management team.
  • Maintaining and improving quality systems aligned with IEC 62271, ISO 9001, ISO 17025 and ISO 14001, and ensure consistent application standards across operations.
  • Influencing and consulting with management within the local ABB unit to innovatively shape the design and development of the quality function to improve overall organizational performance.
  • Ensuring effective internal and external communication relevant to the quality management system, and support internal and external audits with full documentation and readiness.
  • Take ownership of customer complaint resolution, ensuring swift and effective outcomes that enhance customer satisfaction and trust.
  • Facilitating Kaizen events, root cause analysis, and value stream map review sessions to identify and eliminate waste via PDCA and DMAIC
  • Reporting and management of non-conformances (internal and external suppliers) until resolution and close-out.
  • Partnering with production, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to standardize best practices and drive sustainable improvements



Qualifications for the role:

  • 10+ years of experience in quality, testing, FAT, commissioning, and operations within the switchgear or electrical manufacturing industry.
  • A Diploma degree in Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field is required.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 17025 and IEC standards (such as IEC 61439 and IEC 62271) is essential.
    Experience in implementing quality systems, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance throughout production is expected.
  • The role requires the ability to lead major test and quality projects, including specification verification, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and supplier audits.
  • Hands-on experience in operating switchgear systems and managing medium voltage applications is important.
  • Candidates must be able to read the electrical drawing and logic control, develop and program relay protection systems, including communication setup and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with protection coordination and system integration is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, are required.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience in lean management, advanced problem-solving techniques, performance management,
  • At least 5 years of experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills are appropriate for all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft 365 toolkit and a working knowledge of business intelligence software such as Power BI, Minitab, Celonis, etc.
  • Yellow or Green Belt Lean Six Sigma certification is required or ability to certify within 12 months of employment.
