Your Role and Responsibilities
We are now looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to join our automation team in ABB Energy Industries. The preferred location is Vaasa. In this role, you will have the opportunity to join our successful organization providing products, systems and services to our customers within Energy Industries. Automation engineer will be responsible mainly for PLC and DCS based automation system engineering, programming and commissioning activities.
This role is situated within our service organization which executes various tasks from small scale service activities to large scale greenfield and brownfield automation system project deliveries. This position offers you a chance to join our expanding organization and automation team with great and supporting colleagues and international working environment with travel opportunities.
The estimated annual travel time depends on the ongoing activities, roughly 30 - 100 days yearly in mainly Finland and Northern Europe.
You will mainly be responsible for:
- Organizing and executing control system software design activities (optionally also hw engineering), performing system FAT tests in Vaasa and Helsinki facilities and commissioning activities at customer sites
- Serving as a technical reference within automation discipline for the project team, suppliers and customers
- Cooperating with project managers, lead engineers, team members, service agreement managers and customer representatives and other stakeholders
- Ensuring project engineering activities are professionally and cost-effectively executed in accordance with contract specifications, budget, quality standards, and safety requirements
Qualifications for the Role
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in automation engineering, or relevant previous work experience
- Relevant knowledge of power plant automation / electrical systems hardware and software (PLC + HMI) design
- Solid experience (> 2 years) with automation engineering processes in one of the following industries: power generation, life sciences, food & beverage, chemicals
- Fluency in Finnish and English, both written and spoken, Swedish is considered as an advantage
- Results-oriented, customer service and collaboration centric mind-set with commitment to long term learning and personal development
- Knowledge or willingness to learn IT and Cyber Security requirements and related activities
