The Opportunity

The position of Manager, Instrument Operations is within our Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit located in South Portland, ME. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and leading instrument manufacturing operations ensuring reliability and efficiency while achieving production schedules to meet finished products demand. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure production demand is met as well as quality and compliance.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Maintains a high functioning operations staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees.
  • Ensures policies and procedures are adhered to through coaching, counseling, disciplining, and rewarding employees.
  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Communicates job expectations. Plans, monitors and appraises results.
  • Enhances productivity by trending data and seeking gains in efficiency. Finds and recommends root cause solutions.
  • Work as a team player by seeking the advice of and lending advice to other members of the management team. Seeks improvement through positive change in all areas of operations.
  • Works closely with the Global Instrument Operations Leadership Team to ensure operations objectives are met.
  • Author's objective performance evaluations for production staff.
  • Familiarity with documentation control tools and writing Manufacturing Process Change Orders, as required.
  • Drive gross margin improvement from technical and process improvements.
  • Identify and own implementation of method-based culture for problem solving.
  • Plan and execute time/labor studies for manufacturing process improvements
  • Act as the manufacturing liaison alongside the Instrument Technical team.
  • Act as lead to resolve reservicing manufacturability issues for instruments

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manages a team of operators and technicians.
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Manufacturing, Business Administration, Engineering or related technical field; or equivalent experience and/or specialized training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a supervisor or manager
  • Availability 24 hours/day to support 24 hours of Manufacturing when reasonably needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years’ experience in Manufacturing

The base pay for this position is $97,300.00 – $194,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
