The Opportunity
This position works out of our Dallas, TX location in the Transfusion Medicine, Diagnostics Division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision-making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.

The Quality Learning Specialist will help conduct quality-related activities to deliver consistent, high-quality documents, services, products, and processes, which adds value to the business.

What You’ll Work On

  • Act as Quality Training System SME in interactions with internal and external audits in relation to Quality Training, including the alignment of training processes to FDA and ISO standards.

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive working knowledge of internal training processes so that the correct data can be provided during audits that effectively determines the status of training compliance.

  • Maintains the ETMS daily and ensures that employees are complying with the training requirements of the ETMS, analyzing and reporting that assigned training is complete and on time and in accordance with approved training plans.

  • Conducts training needs assessments and program evaluation to determine effectiveness of implemented training solutions.

  • Contributes to defining and timely achievement of overall project goals. Scope typically limited to one specific quality learning function.

  • Provides compliant solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.

  • Interacts constructively with employees, managers, and cross-functional peers to ensure that training plans have been created, assigned, and implemented to employees.

  • Will lead project with a limited scope and frequently contribute on broader projects.

  • Provides guidance to other Professionals and Technicians.

  • Responsible for maintaining and reporting on the Quality Learning System Compliance and Process including analysis and generation of reports and KPI metrics related to quality training for management review.

  • Maintains vigilance to ensure adherence to Quality Training Policy and Quality Training system procedures by promptly reporting noncompliance issues to management.

  • Identifies areas for process improvement.

  • Provides supporting information for change including reasons and justifications.

  • Participates in the development or modification of validation packages, design plans, and risk management deliverables.

  • Receives general direction and exercises considerable discretion to own work detail. Recommends possible solutions. Provides compliant solutions to a variety of complex problems.

  • Ensures compliant documentation, carrying out tasks related to area of responsibility with management oversight.

  • Decisions may have short- and long-term impact.

Required Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship or Bachelors Degree in Life Science, Engineering, or closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Quality or related field experience; less experience may be appropriate with advance degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates understanding of how their function supports the business. Demonstrates technical and business competencies that drive results and continuous improvement.

  • Understands how healthcare industry audits work and has interacted directly with auditors.

  • Demonstrates self-driven and proactive behaviors to always stay on top of their responsibilities.

  • Has led multiple project teams.

The base pay for this position is $66,700.00 – $133,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
