The Opportunity

This position works out of our Zona Franca Coyol – Alajuela location in the Electrophysiology. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

As the Accountant I, is responsible to prepare and post Journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, create place ID tags in Fixed Assets and if needed support the AP organization by posting invoices.

What You’ll Do

• Internal controls: Assure adherence and compliance with applicable corporate finance manuals (CFM) and policies, keep updated GL account reconciliations, Standard Operating procedures and monitor adherence to internal controls.
• General Accounting – Complete all month-end activities, support preparation of financial information under both US GAAP and IFRS by providing reports from SAP.
• Fixed assets - support fixed asset operations including ID tagging, assets creation, disposals and monitoring.
• statutory controls following approval guidelines in SAP; post JE with proper back up information. Participate in physical validations.
• Taxes and regulatory – Download SAP reports to support the preparation of several statutory and Corporate reports.
• Assists other functions in Accounting/Finance area as requested.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree Business Administration with major in Accounting or Finance.
• 1 year of experience in general accounting.
• Intermediate computer applications proficiency (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint).
• Language Proficiency Basic English level.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Free Trade Zone companies.
• Knowledge of integrated accounting systems and information systems (SAP preferred).
