Position Summary
Inventory Controller is responsible for ensuring that associated operating procedures are deployed, understood and complied with. This role is fundamental in ensuring that support is provided, errors identified and corrected, preventative steps taken, that functional teams understand the business processes and cohesive relationships exist. The latter aspect is essential as engagement beyond RDIL, will be required.
Whilst supporting the business requirements the effectiveness of standardized working practices must be continually reviewed and optimized so that "best in class" performance levels are achieved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Key Activities)
Carries out duties in compliance with established business policies and procedures.
Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of applicable Quality Processes as per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.
Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.
Responsibility to understand and maintain awareness of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Managing RDIL’s inventory holding and associated movements.
Minimize inventory excess, expiry & obsolescence.
Provide functional support and guidance as required.
Reconciliation of 3PL data to SAP (consideration of SharePoint & Idocs).
Regional compliance to agreed inventory business processes.
Cycle counting support and coordination of applicable annual stock takes.
Agreed / specific Supply Chain projects and targets.
The role is responsible for working across functional teams such as Quality, Regulatory, Customer Service, SAP Technical, Master Data, Purchasing, Inventory, Finance and Distribution directing and coordinating all activities relating to inventory.
Participation and execution in inventory analyses.
Engagement with 3PL functional teams and those of Abbott to support inventory accuracy.
Establish and maintain professional, collaborative and cohesive relationships.
Monitor and report performance / trending levels, meet and exceeding targets.
Utilize the collective knowledge and insight to improve inventory effectiveness and efficiency
applying standardisation where possible.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on customer, product and process requirements.
Meet reasonable expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
Coordinate activities to ensure cooperation with all participants.
Approval of new product introductions from an inventory perspective.
Training and education in relation to SAP ERP and inventory processes to ensure knowledge and understanding exists to do the job at a high level of accomplishment.
Record successful milestones especially those aligned to agreed goals and projects that support strategic business targets.
Responsibilities around inventory analytics
Reporting capability to minimize negative impact to customers and the business.
Stock at risk – early warning.
Stock status understanding – know why an item is held in quality inspection (Q.I.) blocked and returns are progressed.
Analysis and interpretation of data from across the region to identify slow moving items / expiry
issues and other inventory issues and coordinate remedial actions to minimize write off.
Prepare weekly / monthly reports around analysis of inventory balances, scrap, obsolescence provisions, expiry management and stock statuses for various inventory locations and circulate as appropriate.
Utilize agreed business metrics to demonstrate successful implementation of inventory control policies.
Managed Inventory holding, value and quantities.
Ensure replenishment approach is appropriate, coverage profile, safety stock, purchase to order as examples.
Reduced expiry and obsolescence (E&O).
Increased inventory turns.
Reduced days on hand without impacting on agreed customer service levels.
Dimensions – Education / Experience / Skills
Competent in the use of SAP Warehouse & Inventory Transactions, MS Excel and other MS software solutions.
SAP experience and understanding of interface architecture / capability.
Have or develop a basic understanding of the company products and comprehensive understanding of the total supply chain to help influence its overall effectiveness.
Strong Supply Chain & Logistics skill base.
Excellent communication skills (written & verbal across cultures).
Demonstration of strong influencing skills at all levels of the organization.
Highly numerate with an aptitude for analysis.
Strong project management skills across multiple priorities.
Ability to lead meetings (by phone, video conference and face to face) to drive results and build relationships
Whilst working with teams develop an environment of trust to ensure effective teamwork.
Good communicator, self-motivated, friendly and levelheaded.
When required – be reactive & flexible to current issues while driving the long-term resolution to our Inventory Issues
Willingness to identify where getting involved can add value, even if outside current comfort zone
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Supply Chain arena.
Qualified (or working towards) APICs / CSCP (certified supply chain professional) level.
SAP/ERP system knowledge and experience.
Ability to travel as required (with advance planning).
In order to interact with sites on different time zones occasional out of hours working is required.
