Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal
The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.
Purpose of the position:
We currently have an open opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer in ADC Donegal. Joining the Science Team, your main responsibilities will include leading and conducting engineering studies, providing technical support to the printline, conducting lab-based experiments, recording and analysing results, identifying improvements of manufacturing processes and supporting investigative actions.
Responsibilities:
Plan, implement and lead Technical projects, including validation activities and product/process improvements Projects. Responsible for writing up / reviewing the results and conclusions accurately and on time and presenting relevant information to Stakeholders.
Lead and participate in cross-functional problem-solving teams for troubleshooting, and scientific investigations.
Providing Technical / Process Monitoring Support to Printline and Manufacturing areas.
Performing routine laboratory functions to support scientific experiments and investigations.
Setting up, testing, adjusting, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory equipment such as fume-hood, pipettes, pH meters, etc.
Updating MSDS, equipment work instructions, etc. as required and ensuring the laboratory is adequately stocked and resourced.
Translates top-level goals to specific goals and aligns activities with respective strategic business priorities.
Compliance with company-wide 6S standards.
Conducting thorough risk assessments.
Answering enquiries on the Lab Supervisor’s behalf as required.
Ensures prompt attention of the Science & Technology Manager / Sensor Science Lead to areas of risk, which might have an adverse effect on product and/or safety.
Requirements:
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a Science or Engineering related discipline.
5+ years industrial experience in Medical Device Industry or similar.
Self-motivated with excellent communication / interpersonal skills.
Experience with printing processes (flat-bed / roller printing) desirable.
Project management experience would be desirable.
