Abbott Diabetes Care has opened a new site, in Kilkenny, that is at the forefront of Diabetes care with the latest technology, to manufacture FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre systems.
How You Can Make a Difference
As a Process Engineer Lead, you will guide a team of technical and/or administrative professionals, providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring. You will drive continuous improvement, lead complex projects, and play a critical role in the performance and reliability of our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and Improve Production Performance
Review and analyze production line data, identify issues affecting efficiency or quality, and use structured problem‑solving approaches to drive improvements.Develop Equipment & Process Specifications
Create operational guidelines and ensure equipment is configured and operated in the correct sequence.Troubleshoot and Resolve Technical Issues
Diagnose root causes relating to equipment or process challenges and implement robust solutions.Maintain Compliance & Standards
Ensure all processes, procedures, and documentation meet applicable regulatory and quality requirements.Lead CAPA and Investigations
Drive corrective and preventive actions, managing investigations related to process performance and deviations.Team Leadership & Development
Lead and mentor technical personnel, identify skill gaps, support career development, and help shape succession plans.
Qualifications & Experience
NFQ Level 7 qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Science, or a related field.
Minimum 4 years’ experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment (or an equivalent mix of education and experience).
Strong capability in data analysis, critical thinking, and solving complex technical problems.
Proven ability to spot negative trends and emerging issues quickly.
Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
Demonstrated leadership experience is a significant advantage.
Proactive, innovative mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
Experience with electron beam, gamma, or other sterilization technologies is desirable.
Exposure to chemistry, microbiology, or dosimetry laboratory environments is an advantage.
