Primary Job Function
Responsible for the IT portfolio of Abbott Nutrition IT Greater China (Mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan), including Data Analytics excellence programs and supporting these functions in the regional scope.
Ensures the IT portfolio enhances Data strategy and information management through successful, consistent, and predictable delivery of programs, projects, and applications. Achieves this through an IT demand organization that partners with the business, has excellent understanding of business processes, is aware of technology evolution, and considers regulations relevant to the business area.
Accountable for the complete lifecycle of IT initiatives for End-to-End (E2E) Delivery —from strategy and planning through execution, deployment, and post-implementation support—ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivering measurable value.
Leads the formulation and execution of AI strategies within the IT portfolio, identifying opportunities to leverage AI for business growth, operational efficiency, and enhanced decision-making. Oversees implementation of AI-driven solutions in compliance with regulatory requirements and aligned with global and regional priorities.
Represent Abbott strategically in the industry and community. Understand market/technology trends.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Business Architecture – Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure alignment between business strategy and operating model (policy, organization, functions, end-to-end processes, and information needs).
- Strategic Planning and Implementation – Define and implement Data and AI strategies and roadmap (people, process, technology, information) within the IT portfolio to enhance business growth, operational efficiency, and decision-making; secure stakeholder agreement and funding.
- Business Case Development – Conduct needs assessments and co-develop value-driver based business cases for key components of the operating model including but not limited to tools, functionality, shared services, Make vs. Buy decisions etc.; Ensure implementation & total cost of ownership are justified.
- End-to-End Delivery – Own the full lifecycle of IT initiatives, from planning and design through execution, deployment, and post-implementation support, ensuring predictable and value-driven outcomes.
- Process Governance – Manage and develop Business Intelligence processes to drive adoption of globally agreed standards, share best practices, and oversee change management.
- Training & Change Management – Assess training needs, develop materials, and support train-the-trainer programs for successful deployment of new operating models.
- Operational Excellence – Ensure ongoing alignment of data analytics operating model with other business areas by managing integration points across projects and initiatives across end-to-end processes to uplift performance.
- Innovation & Pilot Management – Drive innovation through approved pilots and pathfinder projects to validate future operating model implications.
- Value Realization – Oversee reviews of actual value delivered by projects and communicate benefits to stakeholders.
- As leader of Data Analytics process stay abreast of emerging best practices and gather learnings from across Abbott divisions, other regions and peer companies. Build & Support Communities of Practice which underpin collaboration efforts both within and outside of the region.

Business Acumen:
- Understand the complex technological and business intelligence and analytics ecosystem and ensure that IT solutions meet the needs of the business.
- Understand the specific challenges and opportunities linked to the regulatory, legal, and economic situation.
Consulting:
- Consulting toward business process owners and business unit management on IT tools and solutions. Recommend solutions assuring fit with BU direction, strategy and priorities. Where needed involve IT business consultants and external technology experts.
Business Partnership:
- Influence and partner with business leaders (Director, Sr. Director level) to manage and align the Data Analytics and IT portfolio. Close collaborate with other parts of business intelligence IT, adjacent business departments, and external partners to ensure adequate and timely delivery of agreed services, in line with agreed service levels.
- Partner and collaborate with key IT staff of other Abbott divisions in order to support cross divisional business initiatives, and explore IT synergies and efficiencies.
Portfolio & Budget Management:
- Agrees with unit management and global BRM, on the portfolio of programs, projects, and applications, and ensures that unit long range plan and budgets are aligned.
- In the BRM team align the unit portfolios, identify conflicts and synergies and act upon this.
- Negotiates for and secures resources to meet the long-range needs of the unit.
- Oversee and control the unit IT budget, project capital/RCE expenditures and ROI.
- Oversee the Business IT Expert team budget, project capital/RCE Expenditures
- Continually look for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance.
Compliance:
- Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.
- Responsible for assessing the compliance of system solutions with regulatory requirements, inclusive of validation.
Position Accountability / Scope
- Operates with goals set by the sector BRM and is accountable for the accuracy of the fit of the proposed business process improvements and the technical solution to the business needs and the information upon which the business justification and prioritization decisions are made. Also, accountable for communicating the business need and drivers to development groups to assure the implementation phase can fulfill the business need.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/BI, business administration or another discipline relevant for the healthcare industry or equivalent experience.
Desired Experience/Training Required:
- 7-10 years of IT experience in large or midsized multinational healthcare organization. Broad IT expertise in various disciplines like system development and project management.
- Specific experience with data management and business intelligence/advanced analytics, AI experience is a plus.
- Excellent understanding of technological BI Analytics and Digital ecosystem.
- Additional experience in setting IT strategy and business IT alignment. Good organizational skills, including program/project management governance.
- Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills. Experience with GxP validation. Experience with vendor management. Qualification in project management. Business unit relevant business process knowledge, as related to IT. Deep knowledge of all technologies used or to be used by the Functional area. Strong influence and negotiating skills. Experience leading teams - both with direct staff and indirect project teams.
