The Opportunity
This position works out of our Orlando, Florida location in the Abbott Heart Failure, Acelis Connected Health business. Our Heart Failure solutions are helping address some of the World’s greatest healthcare challenges. As the SME Verification of Benefits, you’ll have the chance to assist our patients in having accurate insurance information on file and collecting authorizations or PCP referrals as needed.
The Medical Billing Specialist supports the healthcare billing process by accurately entering patient data, submitting insurance claims, and front-end revenue cycle processing. This role is ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented, organized, and interested in growing within the medical billing and revenue cycle field. Training is provided.
What You’ll Work On
Accurately enter patient demographics, insurance information, and billing codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by paper.
Review claims for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with payer requirements.
Monitor claim status and assist with follow-up on claims rejection.
Communicate with insurance companies and/or vendor to resolve claim issues and obtain necessary information.
Assist with billing questions and provide excellent customer support.
Maintain confidentiality by following HIPAA and office policies.
Support the billing team with additional administrative tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Basic computer skills and familiarity with data entry
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with medical billing software (e.g., XIFIN, EPIC)
Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and billing codes
Prior experience in a medical office, customer service, or administrative setting
Skills & Competencies
Data entry accuracy and speed
Basic understanding of insurance billing processes
Problem-solving and investigative skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks
Professional communication (written and verbal)

The base pay for this position is
$19.05 – $38.15/hourIn specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
