Job Description
The Scientist/Sr Scientist Histotechnologist's primary role will be to support histology needs for Skincare R&D, Skin Quality Discovery, and Clinical Development & Scientific Innovation.
This position will be responsible for performing histology, cryotomy, immunohistochemistry (IHC), photomicrography, and histology-based studies to guide the discovery and development of new targets for skin aging/health. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining tissue bank and assist with training clinical sites on handling skin biopsy procedures to ensure the tissue preservation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exercise technical discretion in the development, validation, and execution of histological methods, to include, but not limited, to routine, enzymatic (HRP) or immunofluorescent IHC and cryotomy
- Provide “on hands” histology support for specified Skin Quality & Skincare projects and the interpretation of basic morphological changes
- Support development of protocols, biopsy manuals, and train sites to collect/preserve/transport biopsies by providing expertise.
- Manage internal tissue repository & skin tissue biobank
- Monitor biopsy process and workflow for optimization of tissue handling and analytic process.
- Provide expertise for vendor discussion related to study needs, data collection, staining procedures, handling of tissue, and meeting project timelines.
- Collaborate with in-house SMEs for summarizing experimental findings both verbally and in written reports
- In alignment with co-workers from CDSI and Skincare R&D, work cross-functionally with members from Tissue Material Sciences (TMS), Local Delivery Translational Science (LDTS), Precision Medicine, etc
- Prepares reports for technical protocols and qualitative/quantitative analyses
- Keep abreast of current scientific literature as relevant to skin biology & histology
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a small group
- Participate in external seminars & scientific conferences to maintain regional & national reputation in the field
- Handling of biohazard materials per EHS standards
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters in Pharmacology, Biology, or Medical Sciences; with a strong emphasis on histology
- 5+ years of experience with a Bachelors or 7+ years of experience with a Masters
- Hands-on or managerial/oversight lab experience in histology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Histology Technician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL), ASCP certification preferred
Other Required Skills:
- Demonstrates full command of histological techniques & tools required for assigned responsibilities
- Exhibits strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Exhibits strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a matrixed organization
- Ability to manage and prioritize workload, multi-task and manage a diverse mix of issues, responsibilities and challenges
- Ability to function in a controlled/regulated environment and handle restricted, confidential, private and personal information
- Demonstrates experience in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with management, peers, and customers

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
