Job Description

EMEA Finance Center (FSS)

FSS organization was established as one of the key elements of new operating model for AbbVie to provide accurate financial accounting and reporting for all affiliates and business units. The FSS center for EMEA region is based in Krakow, Poland and is serving as a chief accounting and controllership function for all affiliates and manufacturing plants in the region, providing support in US GAAP accounting, tax and statutory compliance and reporting and in selected FP&A and order to cash processes. The center was established in 2013.

About team:

EMEA Indirect Tax Accounting is mainly responsible for planning, coordinating and supporting the Indirect Tax compliance processes for the EMEA region and to a limited extend also for Canada, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. The team consists of indirect tax skilled professionals that for countries in scope prepare and submit indirect tax returns to the authorities without the involvement from third party service provider. Team ensures VAT is correctly accounted for and reconciled.

We are currently looking for an Indirect Tax Accounting Analyst to join our EMEA Indirect Tax Accounting team in Kraków.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of tax returns for countries in scope and submit to Tax Authorities.
  • Provide support for tax audits and answer to inquiries from various taxing jurisdictions.
  • Being in contact with third-party service providers and Tax Centre of Excellence.
  • Follow-up on any missing information and perform defined checks and reconciliations as per due dates once reports are available.
  • Update and track corrections to be performed and resolve identified issues during the compliance process.
  • Review and sign off all tax related balance sheet accounts reconciliations, as prepared by third party provider (BPO).
  • Co-ordinate with Tax Centre of Excellence of any other tax accounting related activities.
  • Being responsible for documentation for all countries.
  • Constantly look for improvement opportunities in the area of direct responsibility, but not limited to and drive implementation (compliance, quality and process efficiency.

Qualifications

  • A driven, energetic person with experience in indirect tax compliance/ reporting and accounting, able to act as focal point between different stakeholders and meet fixed deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with an accounting and/or tax orientation and hands on accounting experience (2-3 years) in an international environment (pharma sector is a plus).
  • Professional proficiency of English is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of the European VAT framework.
  • Critical thinking mindset to be able to challenge tools and processes in use while promoting business development.
  • Ability to deal with time constraints while effectively managing deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and at stakeholders’ side.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong computer skills, experience with Excel and SAP.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and drive for excellence.
