Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical lead for product development projects.
  • Provide mentoring & guidance to other team members.
  • Use broad knowledge of plastic & metal materials to define the selection criteria & tradeoffs for different materials.
  • Outline & execute to short-term goals to achieve overall project milestones.
  • Manage overall development of parts & subassemblies for a project design.
  • Refine & develop selected concept(s) with little guidance from manager.
  • Prepare, present, & document designs at technical reviews.
  • Coordinate design constraints within ME team & other R&D groups.
  • Resolve design conflicts with no managerial intervention.
  • Within Development Sciences engineering team, will lead aspects design, development & testing of medical device(s) as a subject matter expert.
  • Will create part & sub-system requirements based on Design Requirements & best mechanical engineering practices & ensure that design of the system & components within meet all requirements.
  • Must define of tests & test protocols, complete tests & documentation & document results & conclusions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Must have a BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree & 5 years of progressively more responsible product design & development experience. Of experience required, must have 3 years working in a matrixed organization, synthesizing multiple tasks across departments & communicating about project goals, schedules & planning in writing & orally to peers, business leaders & senior management.

Of experience required, must have 2 years:

  1. functioning as a SME & as a project technical leader with minimal supervision of the manager; &
  2. performing product development in medical devices.

Alternatively, would accept MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree & 3 years of progressively more responsible product design & development experience. Of experience required, must have 2 years of each of the following:

  1. working in a matrixed organization, synthesizing multiple tasks across departments & communicating about project goals, schedules & planning in writing & orally to peers, business leaders & senior management;
  2. functioning as a SME & as a project technical leader with minimal supervision of the manager; &
  3. performing product development in medical devices.

With either combination of education & work experience, must have completed at least 2 projects using FEA for thermal or structural analysis.

Work experience may be gained concurrently. Company will accept any reasonable combination of education, training and work experience.

Additional Information

Salary Range: $175,339.99 - $230,000.00 per year.
