Job Description
We are currently seeking a Scientist II to join our team in Westport. This person will join our PDS&T (Process Development, Science and Technology) team who will serve as a technical expert, focusing on investigating, identifying, developing, and optimizing new methods and techniques to meet critical project needs. The role involves continuous improvement of existing laboratory methods and processes, as well as reading and adapting scientific literature to achieve project objectives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate mastery of a broad range of experimental techniques and data analysis methods.
Responsibilities
As a Scientist II, you will be responsible for:
- Independently designing, executing, and interpreting crucial experiments to address scientific questions.
- Understanding the broad objectives of projects and your role in achieving these objectives, while adapting experimental plans as needed.
- Innovating and implementing new experimental protocols.
- Demonstrating a high level of proficiency in your field.
- Setting and meeting experimental timelines effectively.
- Contributing to project impact through lab and/or pilot plant activities, where applicable.
- Learning, understanding, and mastering new experimental techniques, and serving as a resource or mentor for others.
- Routinely reading and applying relevant scientific literature, and contributing to the writing and conceptual framework of publications, presentations, and patents.
- Organizing and presenting scientific plans and data efficiently.
- Understanding and adhering to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- BS or equivalent education with typically 7 or more years of experience, or
- MS or equivalent education with typically 5 or more years of experience
Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute, and interpret critical experiments for answering scientific questions.
- Proven ability to learn, understand, and master new experimental techniques.
- Ability to multitask effectively and work within timelines.
- Demonstrated scientific writing skills and strong verbal communication skills.
