Job Description

Regional Medical Information Specialist

The Regional Medical Information Specialist provides strategic and operational support to the affiliate within the region in compliance with current procedures. They establish partnerships at the regional level to align the practices of affiliates. They provide recommendations in accordance with local regulations concerning Medical Information, including during product launches, and present region-specific analytical reports to stakeholders. This role serves as a liaison for the compliant management of products and collaborates with pharmacovigilance, product surveillance, and other stakeholders. Additionally, they contribute to the training of new employees and manage level 1 providers to optimize processes among affiliates within the region.

Request manegement:

  • Act as the point of contact in the country/region to resolve the most urgent information requests, ensuring issues are addressed effectively according to internal standards for turnaround times.
  • Manage the escalation process for complex medical requests, working closely with the provider team and the Global team to ensure prompt and accurate responses

Content Development and Management:

  • Ensure that the Medical Information (MI) content is accurate, compliant with regulatory requirements, and aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Develop and update local MI content as necessary.
  • Manage the translation of MI content to ensure it is accessible to all regions while considering local linguistic nuances and regulatory requirements.

Perform quality control of medical information responses in accordance with provider specifications.​​​​​​​

Medical Information Expert for Local Considerations with the Level 1 Provider:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for local needs, particularly concerning data privacy rules.
  • Manage specific local requests (e.g., training on proper usage).
  • Provide guidance and support to local affiliate stakeholders to ensure MI activities comply with local regulatory requirements and the local organization.
  • Oversee and track the implementation of digital solutions to improve information management capabilities and processes in the region.
  • Analyze data from medical requests to generate insights and develop activity reports for affiliates.

Present information to regional and affiliate stakeholders, providing trends and highlighting relevant topics of interest.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Training and Forums:

  • Coordinate, lead, and provide training on products, systems, and processes for the provider team.
  • Regularly update training materials to reflect evolving processes and regulations.
  • Actively participate in MI forums and local meetings, sharing ideas, best practices, and relevant updates for affiliates and the region.

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate medical information documents using critical analysis and interpretation skills by applying medical information, instructions, policies, procedures, and guidelines related to medical communications and dissemination.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical principles and practices and their application, understanding of medical terminology and treatment modalities, and knowledge of pharmacological principles, theory, and their application.
  • Ability to improve processes and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Experience in participating in inter-regional initiatives and coordinating between diverse teams.
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences and awareness of differences in medical and clinical practice in the region.
  • Proficiency in English and an appreciation of the challenges and ambiguities related to the use of the English language in the region.
  • Knowledge and experience in using computer systems, databases, and software applications, including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel, preferred.

From a practical point of view and daily work life: we are currently located in Rungis; however, AbbVie France will be relocating to 5/13 Bd de la République, 92100 Boulogne-Billancourt by the end of 2025. The new premises along the Seine will host the France and Europe teams, both therapeutic and aesthetics, in two newly renovated seven-story buildings within a campus of four buildings.

Each floor will be equipped with meeting rooms and relaxation areas to promote collaboration and informal exchanges. The premises will also have outdoor spaces, including a green inner courtyard and a private rooftop with a view of the Seine, exclusively for AbbVie employees.
