Job Description

This is a field-based position, and candidates should reside within a reasonable distance of a major airport and may live outside of the posted city and state. This role supports teams located in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

The Senior Manager, Psychiatry Account Executives, leads, coaches and develops a regional team of Psychiatry Account Executives (PAEs). Reporting directly to the Director of the PAE national team, the primary objective of this role includes assessing regional business opportunities across priority Behavioral Health Accounts (including IDNs, Hospitals, Community Mental Health Centers, VA) to achieve assigned product performance goals and drive growth in the atypical antipsychotic market. Effective execution within target accounts and with key customer influencers and decision-makers by direct reports is essential. The position overlays psychiatry field sales regions, districts, and AbbVie in-field support teams, necessitating extensive communication and collaboration skills.

Key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:

  1. People Leadership
    • Own the execution of PAE strategic priorities, taking a proactive customer facing role with select key accounts. Working with the PAEs, Area Sales Director and Regional Directors to coordinate a focused strategic approach to grow the business and market. This can include cross functional matrix communication across multiple Abbvie business units.
    • Develop, implement, and execute comprehensive skill development plans for all direct reports. Provide consistent coaching through territory travel and engagement with PAEs during business and key account planning discussions. Evaluate the execution of franchise strategic priorities by direct reports through effective coaching and problem-solving skills to ensure that PAEs meet behavioral expectations. Develop leadership capabilities of PAEs, taking into consideration career goals of direct reports.
    • Lead internal business partnership communication (sales, marketing, training, medical, market access, federal) and collaboration to ensure highly effective, coordinated execution of PAE strategic priorities. Enhance clarity on PAE roles and priorities among IFT partners.
    • Develop, monitor, and advance the development planning process with direct reports. Actively model and lead engagement of direct reports and IFT partners to elevate PAE organizational Inclusion and Culture goals.
  2. Business Strategy (Analysis, Planning, Execution)
    • Integrate marketing strategies into regional execution, including sales training needs, during in-field Key Account Management (KAM) and National/Regional meetings, with the objective of enhancing regional effectiveness with key accounts.
    • Guide and coach on the appropriate use of approved promotional materials, incorporating health economic messaging to identify care gaps within accounts.
    • Lead the analysis and application of sales data in coordination with direct reports and partner sales management to prioritize accounts, analyze impact, and identify business opportunities to achieve sales objectives.
    • Utilize PAE analytical tools to assess regional territory sales performance trends and develop strategic selling initiatives to address performance opportunities. Compile and present monthly regional performance reports against key business objectives.
    • Collaborate with the franchise leadership team to develop, implement, and execute regional territory pull-through execution plans in support of PAE and Team Psych core execution priorities, such as Business Planning, Selling Skills, and Coaching.
    • Drive national execution of business planning and Key Account planning processes; manage direct reports to adhere to these processes. This includes ensuring the effective assimilation of evolving account targeting and approved messaging strategies into regional execution. Monitor account execution by direct reports using analytical and other business tools to ensure performance expectations are met.
    • Engage prioritized accounts directly to build relationships with key customers in support of advancing organizational objectives.
    • Driving a personal auto or company car or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business-related field preferred or relevant and equivalent industry experience required.
  • Advanced analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting business
  • Ability to examine business environment and develop/execute in response to market opportunities.
  • An essential requirement of your position is to satisfy all applicable health care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements to gain and maintain entry into facilities and organizations that are in your assigned territory. You must also be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain these credentials.
  • These HCIR credentialing requirements may include, but are not limited to, background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination for various diseases, fingerprinting and specific licenses required by individual state or cities. Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years in a sales manager role, with strong history of results
  • Extensive experience leading internal groups to drive execution, grow business, and overcome challenges with large accounts is strongly preferred.
  • Self-driven with a demonstrated history of strong performance, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across multiple functions is strongly preferred.
