The Sales Force Effectiveness & Analytics role is a strategic leadership position responsible for guiding segmentation, and targeting initiatives, quantifying new customer segments and total addressable market, and identifying untapped opportunities for tailored go-to-market strategies. This leader ensures alignment with sales and marketing teams on segmentation and messaging, and oversees comprehensive sales analytics including forecasting, business intelligence reporting, performance reviews, and incentive program administration. A key aspect of the role involves mentoring and developing analytics talent, fostering a data-driven culture, and supporting onboarding and training to drive sales force excellence. Serves as a trusted partner to senior management, delivering actionable insights that support effective business planning and operational excellence.
Commercial Analytics
- Direct and oversee external market research, segmentation, and targeting initiatives, including using market data, competitor benchmarks, and frameworks such as AA Facial Segmentation.
- Identify and define new customer segments and quantify Total Addressable Market (TAM) vs. company footprint.
- Analyze untapped opportunities within existing accounts and white space, and devise tailored go-to-market strategies for different segments.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure alignment on targeting, segmentation, and omnichannel messaging.
Sales Analytics
- Guide the development, maintenance, and refinement of sales forecasting models for robust business planning.
- Track, analyze, and report on variances between forecasts, budgets, and actual sales; identify root causes and improvement opportunities.
- Oversee the design, automation, and delivery of business intelligence dashboards and reports, ensuring data accuracy and integrity in partnership with IT/data teams.
- Lead the design, analysis, and administration of sales compensation plans and incentive programs; validate commission calculations and resolve queries fairly and transparently.
- Manage performance analytics: define and track KPIs, analyze representatives’ performance and sales processes, deliver regular performance reviews, and guide territory management strategies.
Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop analysts and specialists across all functions (segmentation, forecasting, BI, sales comp, performance analytics, and training).
- Foster a culture of data-driven decision making, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Oversee onboarding and development programs for sales force excellence, identifying performance gaps, and supporting field coaching initiatives.
- Ensuring documentation, communication, and training supports effective adoption of analytics tools, compensation policies, and best practices across teams.
- Act as a strategic partner to senior management, delivering insights and recommendations that inform business planning and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, Analytics, Finance, or relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience managing commercial analytics and sales operations teams.
- Strong analytical skills and familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), CRMs
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to translate data into actionable commercial strategies and process improvements.
- 7–10 years of relevant professional experience of working in a Sales.
- Intelligence / Salesforce Effectiveness / Operations role preferably within a pharmaceutical, biotech or healthcare company preferred.
- Over 3 years of direct people management experience in commercial analytics, sales operations, business intelligence, or a closely related field.
