Job Description
The preferred candidate will be based in Greater Vancouver Area; the territory covers Northern Vancouver and Vancouver.
We are presently recruiting for the role of Therapeutic Specialist, Vision Care. The candidate will be based in Greater Vancouver Area and will be responsible for managing and leading business development in some of our largest key customer accounts. The product portfolio covers both Glaucoma and Dry Eye Disease.
The Therapeutic Specialist, Vision Care will be the face of AbbVie to identified Key Accounts to continue building on and developing the long-term customer relationships across the glaucoma and dry eye disease portfolios.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating relationships with existing customers and expanding awareness and use of focused AbbVie Vision Care products in Glaucoma and Dry Eye Disease within the territory.
- Responsible for managing sales at the customer and hospital level in accordance with approved marketing plans and company policies, to attain or exceed the sales targets for the assigned territory.
- Essential skills and abilities include: a high degree of flexibility in adapting to change, interpersonal and client relationship skills and a positive solution-oriented thinking capability.
- Act as the customer expert and manager of the AbbVie commercial relationships with the External Experts.
- Has and maintains a macro view of customer relationships and works cross-functionally within AbbVie to maximize sales results.
- Works closely with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure internal team members understand and effectively execute against the customer strategy and sales expectations.
- Acts in the best interests of AbbVie looking for areas of mutual interest to AbbVie and the Key Accounts.
- Identifies predictive and responsive opportunities to co-develop solutions within the Key Accounts
- Proactively identifies challenges to effective customer interactions and ensures that the right internal processes are in place to overcome or mitigate them.
- Is the core customer advocate within AbbVie (e.g. identifies customer’s issues, concerns and priorities)
- Builds deep and broad engagements within the Key Account’s organization and develops an understanding of their key priorities, structure and business environment to maximize sales
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing trusting relationships with Key accounts and growing those relationships to ensure maximum share of the Glaucoma and Dry Eye Disease markets.
- Developing account specific strategies in accordance with AbbVie’s guidelines and values
- Collaborating with the AbbVie Medical team and AbbVie Institute’s Clinical Specialist in the field to optimize product knowledge and business training acumen
- Develop comprehensive and strategic business plans in order to increase market share in the glaucoma and dry eye product portfolio
- Conduct regular sales reviews of business territory performance externally and internally
- Execute national marketing programs collaborating with internal cross-functional teams
- Identify new collaboration & growth opportunities within existing Key Accounts, as well as identify new Key Accounts
- Proficiently manage overall budget & resource allocation for the territory
Qualifications
Education, Experience & Competencies Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Science or equivalent, or MBA combination of experience and education required
- A minimum of 3 years of Sales and/or marketing/or head office operational experience
- Key Account Management experience valued
- Experience in Pharmaceutical/Medical Sales is required
- A thorough understanding of the institutional/ Key Account healthcare sector preferred
- Demonstrated track record of achieving and/or exceeding business results
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong business acumen and self-starter
- Demonstrates leadership capabilities, listening and adaptability skills
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Proven ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally within the company
- Ability to effectively communicate with senior leaders both with customers & internally
- Candidate must be fluent in English. Both verbal and written
- Highly collaborative with a customer-centric mindset
- Able to travel up to 40% of the time
- Position requires evening/weekend work, including overnight travel.
- Valid driver’s license and passport

- Effectively communicate and collaborate with in-field team members, to develop and maximize the integrated account plan.
