Job Description

We are looking for an experienced US Payroll People Mobility Team Lead who will oversee and manage the payroll processes for our mobile employees. This role requires a strong understanding of US payroll laws, tax implications, and mobility policies to ensure compliance and accuracy in payroll operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team responsible for US payroll operations related to mobile employees, including expatriates, inpatriates, and other mobile workforce.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, taxes, and allowances for mobile employees.
  • Collaborate with HR, tax, and finance teams to develop and implement payroll policies and procedures for mobile employees.
  • Stay updated on federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations related to mobile employees.
  • Handle payroll inquiries and issues from mobile employees and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and tax advisors to manage tax equalization, gross-up calculations, and other mobility-related tax matters.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify data accuracy and resolve discrepancies in payroll processing for mobile employees.
  • Prepare payroll reports and presentations for management and stakeholders as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience in US payroll operations with a focus on mobility or expatriate payroll, with at least 6-8 years in a leadership or team lead role.
  • In-depth knowledge of US payroll laws, tax compliance requirements, and mobility policies.
  • Experience with payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Oracle, SAP).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional - CPP) preferred.

Team support:

Plan proper allocation of work. Support Team lead / Manager with Daily stats / reporting and OPEX MOS. Enrich team members with a clear sense of direction and understanding of each other’s' responsibilities. To be available on the floor through the day to resolve process related issues. Participate in Team building activities. Create effective QC and Audit mechanism within process to ensure delivery on SLA’s.

Client support:

Update process metrics on daily basis and maintain MIS. Support special process requirements to meet client requests/demands. To continue strengthen work relationship with Onshore Teams. Apply procedures to ensure accuracy of output and adopts continuous improvement approach. Always demonstrate the highest level of customer service. Pay close attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues. Goes beyond immediate requests and activities to ensure both own and related tasks are completed. Participate in client conference calls and prepare ‘minutes of meeting’.

Competencies:

Adapt to changing environment and support of multiple clients (where needed). Analyze/interpret data and take appropriate action. Demonstrate maturity in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters. Must have the ability to take judgmental decisions in line with the requirement to directly influence customer satisfaction and expectations. Mentoring skills.
