The work:
As an Industry X Nuclear Engineer Co-op Student, you will have the opportunity to work to reimagine the products our clients make and how they make them.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Help with engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to machine and tool designs
- Help analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness etc. in the development of equipment, processes and products
- Examine flexibility of using one or more machines to carry out sequential operations
- Assist in working with drawings, detail drawings and bills of materials for equipment, sub-assemblies or product using Auto CAD and SolidWorks
- Assist with analyzing designs and systems for compliance to applicable standards (i.e. OSHA, CE or customer specific)
- Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, proper machining techniques, finishes, hardness, etc.
- Contribute accurate documentation for each project
- Complete other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary engineering program (degree) specializing in robotics & automation, mechanical, systems, or mechatronics engineering
- This is a 4 month (12 week) Coop work term. Preference will be given for those in their 3rd or 4th years of studies
- Understanding of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands on experience is desirable
- Strong organizational and professional communication skills (written and verbal)
- A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Strong team player, but also comfortable working independently
