THE WORK:
- You'll prepare Independent Cost Estimates (ICE) to support project planning, design, and construction phases.
- You'll review and finalize Engineer’s Estimates, considering factors like phasing, operations, shift work, and time constraints.
- You'll develop detailed ICEs using conceptual data and engineering drawings, including labor, material, and equipment costs.
- You'll produce Constructability Reports to identify design issues and assist in developing realistic project budgets.
- You'll reconcile internal estimates with third-party estimates through collaborative review and communication.
- You'll analyze contractor and subcontractor bids to ensure alignment with internal cost estimates.
- You'll assess production factors and identify necessary contractor field equipment.
- You'll present cost estimates to stakeholders and support decision-making processes.
- You'll conduct material take-offs and prepare detailed cost breakdowns of systems and components.
- You'll maintain and use historical cost data for future estimating efforts.
- You'll review contracts and modifications to evaluate scope changes and associated cost impacts.
- You'll assist in change order negotiations, reviewing scope, labor rates, pricing references, and contractor mark-ups.
- You'll coordinate with project teams, document negotiations, and prepare reports and correspondence.
- Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.
$132,363 - $145,600 a year
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- 5 years or more of estimating experience directly related to both engineering and construction projects
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field
- Certified estimating professional credential required
BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE:
- Demonstrated experience with estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations
- Demonstrated experience in getting independent estimates from vendors/contractors as check estimates against contractor proposal estimated costs and negotiations
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices
- Self-starter attitude with proved results-oriented focus
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Must possess the ability to effectively interact with various departments to maintain open lines of communication.
- Comfortable operating in a team-oriented, collaborative work environment
- Produce accurate and timely results while maintaining a customer service attitude
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized
- Demonstrated experience working on multiple projects at the same time
- Experience working with outside agencies i.e., FAA, General Services division, LADBS, LADWP, etc.
